This multimedia project was created using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. It was designed to bring awareness to anti-gentrification and showcase how gentrification can negatively affect communities. The project also highlighted the Right to the City movement and its efforts to address issues around housing, displacement, and community access.
My role as a designer was to find a unique way to communicate how gentrification impacts communities. I focused on showing how large corporations buying up homes and replacing them with expensive apartment buildings can create barriers for the people who already live in those neighborhoods.
The value I brought to this project was my research and dedication to understanding the issue. I wanted to create visuals that were not only informative but also helped communicate the emotional impact that housing displacement can have on a community.
My impact on this project was creating a visual story that helped make a complex social issue easier to understand. Through my design choices, I focused on showing the contrast between community spaces and corporate development, encouraging viewers to think about who benefits from these changes and who is affected by them.
